A former soap star has appeared in court charged with the execution-style murder of a nightclub bouncer.

Ex-Brookside actor Brian Regan is accused of killing Bahman Faraji who was shot at point blank range outside a pub in Liverpool.

The 53-year-old, who played Terry Sullivan in the show, appeared before Magistrates in Liverpool today (WED) to face one count of murder and one count of perverting the course of justice.

Mr Faraji, 44, was gunned down outside the Belgrave pub, on Bryanston Road in Aigburth, on 24th February.

The Iranian doorman, who was known as 'Batman', is believed to have been the victim of a targeted attack amid rumours he was connected to the Liverpool underworld.

A post mortem revealed that the father-of-one died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Unshaven Regan appeared handcuffed in the oak-panelled dock of Court One alongside Lee George Dodson, 42, who was also charged with murder.

Regan, dressed in a navy jacket, blue jumper and jeans and Dodson, dressed in a blue Adidas tracksuit, spoke only to confirm their name, address and date of birth.

During the ten minute hearing, both men were remanded in custody to appear before Liverpool Crown Court on 18th April 2011.
