A Home Theater PC (HTPC), sometimes also called "media PC" "media center" or "media server" combines the aspects of a personal computer; digital video recorder; television receiver; and photo, video/DVD, music/MP3, and/or video game player into one unit designed to be connected to a TV or computer monitor display. In addition to usual PC functions, all HTPCs share the following traits: available television connectivity, large storage capabilities and modifications that allow for improved noise reduction. Most HTPCs support HDTV and surround sound and can be purchased as separate components or as complete ready to install units.
